Are you looking for an orchestra to play in?
The University of Jyväskylä’s wind orchestra, Puhkupillit, is a lively yet goal-oriented student orchestra. We play all sorts of wind music, ranging from energetic humppa to more symphonic pieces, depending on the season’s project.
Who can join?
Anyone who plays wind or percussion instruments can join Puhkupillit! We do not hold auditions. Regardless of your skill level, it’s worth coming to try out—often, musical abilities thought to be lost can be rediscovered with a little practice.
Our orchestra mainly consists of university students, but we also have players from JAMK, secondary school students, and musicians who have already entered working life.
Rehearsals
We rehearse once a week on Wednesday evenings from 5-8pm. There is no fee for participating in rehearsals but the membership fee for Puhkupillit ry is 1€ per year.
We announce open rehearsals at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters on our social media (Instagram, Facebook). If you’re joining mid-season, make sure to check with our conductors at kaput@nullpuhkupillit.fi.
For rehearsals, you only need to bring your own instrument! Puhkupillit provide sheet music, stands, and coffee :)
Puhkupillit offers much more than just playing music; it’s a great opportunity to spend time together and get involved in various activities within our association.
